Welcome to Blue Terrace Shih Tzu, proud member of the Canadian Kennel Club.
We are a small breeder located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. We strive to produce healthy companion quality puppies to enhance your life. We offer to be there as support during the entire life of your dog, and hope that you will keep us up-to-date with photos and stories along the way. We’re here if you need us.
We only plan a couple of litters each year and find it best to maintain a waiting list to provide you with details on when our planned litters are expected. Please feel free to contact us to enquire about current or future litters.
We have found that the goal of a Shih Tzu is to love and be loved. They want to be close to you, lay beside you or on your lap (they have been called ‘lap dogs’). They require minimal exercise, but truly love a short walk every day. Shih Tzu’s do require regular grooming, so be prepared for a daily brushing to avoid matting, and trips to a groomer a few times each year. Also be prepared for some possible snorting and snoring - the Shih Tzu is considered a brachycephalic breed.
All of our Shih Tzu's are CKC Registered and sold with non-breeding contracts. To ensure we provide you with the best match possible, we ask that you complete a short questionnaire/application to be completed prior to purchasing a puppy. We try not to pry, but would like to ensure that we have what you are looking for in personality and your lifestyle. As we do not release our puppies until at least 10-12 weeks we can have a fair idea on each one’s general disposition and can help you in determining your perfect match.
OUR OPINION – YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE OR A ‘BROKER**’...THEY ARE PART OF THE REASON PUPPYMILLS EXIST!!! Yes, the sweet little darling looking up at you in the pet store is pleading with you to take him/her home. Sad but true, we urge you to educate yourselves on the conditions the parents of these puppies are forced to live in. An unhealthy parent produces an unhealthy puppy, which can take time to show up to you, and by then it’s too late – welcome to expensive vet bills, quite often for the life of the dog. Research "Pet Store Puppies" and "Puppy Mills". Always buy from a reputable breeder...breeders who care enough to take the time to find loving homes for their puppies. Reputable breeders will never sell their puppies to or through a pet store or broker; no matter what a pet store owner or employee may tell you.
**We define a Broker as: a person or company who sells puppies for someone else for a profit, anyone who buys puppies (from anyone, but usually a puppymill) and resells them.
